Le fond géologique est donc essentiellement constitué par un socle précambrien où prédomine le granite, et par des sédiments continentaux gréseux et argileux qui se sont déposés du Primaire au Tertiaire. Ce fond disparaît fréquemment sous les alluvions quaternaires des vallées fossiles.

The geological background is mainly composed of a Precambrian plate in which granite predominates, and continental sediments of sandstone and clay that are deposited from the Paleozoic to the Tertiary Eras. This background often disappears beneath the Quaternary Era alluvium of fossil valleys.
