Craggy or sheer are alternatives to scarped. It's indeed a pitty that a british webpage is made by people that doesn't know how to write their own idiom....in your point of view, of course.

xxxmediamatrix: 'scarped' is not English (except as a calque from the French 'esparpé'), although the noun 'escarpment' does exist in English.

writeaway: perhaps the British webpage wasn't 'made' by native Anglos /happens all the time-often depends on who is running the agency,who is working there etc. We recently saw an official Belgian website being translated into En by a native Spanish person in Spain.
