((Cet adjectif)) se disait, ((autrefois), au féminin, lorsque les pierres étaient simplement classées en pierres tendres et en pierres dures, d'une pierre qui n'était ni trop tendre, ni trop dure et qui se taillait facilement, franchement : c'était une pierre sans surprise.
Cet adjectif est adopté maintenant au féminin, par certains Maîtres Carriers comme terme de comparaison, dans une carrière déterminée, pour désigner commercialement une pierre plus dure que la roche de cette carrière et ce, pour ne plus accompagner le nom commercial de l'adjectif « dur » ou « dure ».
