I know this is about Italian unification, (context here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Risorgimento) but I don't know the term for this group. A-catholic? Acatholic? One of the times Google is hopeless... |
| | Clarification request(s) and responseLaurel Clausen: 5:22pm Jan 30, 2008: Here's a definition I've found - but I have no idea how to summarize it in English! (or if it applies here, I'm afraid...)
Acatholiques (Baptisés qui ne font pas partie de l'Église catholique)
http://www.fatima.be/fr/sanctus/prieres/table.php Laurel Clausen: 5:27pm Jan 30, 2008: Hmmm... I guess this definition would be "non-practicing Catholics" but that seems a bit odd here... Kari Foster: 10:00pm Jan 30, 2008: Laurel, your definition would mean 'Christians from a denomination other than Catholic'. Non-practising Catholics are still a part of the church because they were baptised into it. Laurel Clausen: 1:01am Jan 31, 2008: Ah well, that's what you get when a non-Christian looks up this sort of thing! :) Thanks for clarifying, Kari!

| | non-Catholic | Explanation: Hi,
I'm not a specialist of this period but from your quote it doesn't sound to me like the a-Catholiques are a specific group, just anyone who isn't a Catholic.

| Note from asker to answererThanks. There are more theological implications here than I can cope with right now, but I think this will serve my present purpose. 4 KudoZ points were awarded for this answer |
