I'm translating a breakdown of a large gas company's headcount and employees have been divided into the following categories: Exécution (38 pax), Maîtrise (465), Cadre (652) and Cadre dirigeant (145).
I'm having trouble distinguishing the different job titles/departments.

Improving First Line Management Capability
Focused leadership behaviours and practices have been proven to deliver real improvement in employee engagement and financial performance. Creating a pool of well trained and competent first line managers is a key challenge for today's organisations.
First line management can be one of the most demanding roles within an organisation. These are the people responsible for those who do not manage others, for ensuring targets are met, quality is sustained, new working methods are implemented and that customers are satisfied. Often first line managers have been promoted because of their technical proficiency and can then find themselves holding a new title without the skills and training to conduct this new and highly important role. When the potential of this management tier is fulfilled the benefits for the organisation can be immense, resulting in increased productivity, cost savings, growth of the organisation and enhanced business reputation
