French to English translations [PRO]
Bus/Financial - Human Resources / Job title in an IT consulting firm
French term or phrase: Directeur des engagements
This is the job title of a keynote speaker at a conference on IT solutions.

« Le Cloud : des perspectives sans limite mais pas sans risques »
A cette occasion, Mr xxxxxxx, Senior Manager chez xxxxxx en charge de l’offre Sécurité, Mr yyyyyy, Directeur des engagements chez xxxxxxx et Ms zzzzzzzz, Avocate et co-fondatrice du cabinet xxxxxxxxxxxxx seront présents. Ils apporteront leurs connaissances, leurs points de vues et répondront aux a priori qui entourent le cloud en matière de sécurité."

The company xxxxx is an IT consulting firm. Unfortunately there's no further information on Mr yyyyyy's role.

Many thanks,
David

English translation:commitments director
Explanation:
Go with the literal translation, as other translators have done before you.

Unless you can fact-check the person's role at the company in question, you can't know what kind of commitments are involved or what his title might be at an analogous company in the Anglosphere. Could be projects, development, investment, procurement or any number of things. Why bother.

neutral  philgoddard: This is IT, not finance - and it's very unlikely that the head of the credit department would be giving a talk on cloud security.

neutral  rkillings: engagements = commitments, not necessarily credit commitments. Is there any reason to presume that the company is a lender?
