French to English translations [Non-PRO] Human Resources | | French term or phrase: cadre supérieur hors position | | Mr X has been hired in the capacity of deputy sales director "statut cadre supérieur hors position". I understand that he is a senior executive, but it's the "hors position" that I've never heard of. Thanks for any input. |

Explanation: My hunch is that the 'hors position' relates to the fact that some places employ people at a certain level (the sales manager bit) to work on whatever the latest/most urgent project/area is. With ministers, you get 'ministers without portfolio', i.e. they haven't been permanently allocated a specific responsibility.
