"standard phone plug" Explanation: Un prise gigogne est une prise adapteur pour téléphones en France, CF Google images. La RJ11 est celle qu'on trouve sur les ordinateurs pour le modem, elle est utilisée comme prise murale dans certain pays. http://images.google.com/images?client=safari&rls=en-us&q=pr... |

hermaphrodite plug Explanation: Warning: this answer may be offensive to some people. Calling it a "prise MURALE" is wrong, IMO. That would be the wall socket. A "prise gigogne" is the plug that plugs into the wall socket. The original 8228 has connectors of IBM Cabling System (ICS) and use a very unfamiliar plug, which is called 'Hermaphrodite Plug' and is plug and socket as well ... www.tavi.co.uk/ps2pages/ohland/8228.html |

piggy-back plug Explanation: It's not clear in this text whether they are talking about wall-sockets or phone plugs (though if wall sockets it's hard to see where the piggy-back element would come in). However see website in reference. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 hr (2008-03-10 10:12:34 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- On the Shopping Emporium website scroll down to Telephone Extension Kit. The product is for UK rather than French phones but the principle is the same. Reference: http://www.cselinks.com/shopping-emporium/search.php?q=Piggy... |

local-standard telephone jack Explanation: Seems to me what the writer really meant to say is that the room must have either a local (French, UK, Italian, etc.--all different) standard telephone *jack*, or a Western Electric RJ11 jack, or a dual-port fixture with both, but if only the first is present, a piggy-back adapter plug will be needed to provide either an RJ11 jack or an attached mounting cable terminated in a RJ11 plug. |

Phone outlet with DSL filter Explanation: Having recently installed ADSL for one of our friends, agree with Bourth that it is both male and female, but there is also RJ11 socket for internet connection. You can't have both telephone and computer connected without this filter. |
