French to English translations [PRO]
IT (Information Technology) / IT management terminology
French term or phrase: pilotage
The context: a report by a large Global Technology Services company on the management systems in a payroll and HR outsource company.

Followed by a table:

Column 1:
Heading: GXP
Entries:
Management et techniques de négotiation
Gestion de budget
gestion de projet technique

Columns 2 to 10:
Headings: The initials of staff members
Entries:
Letter codes indicating skills possessed

Column 11
No heading
Single entry covering the above 3 lines:
**Pilotage** du SI

The table has two more sections in which the common entries in the last column are respectively "support applicatif" and "support spécifique".

Here then we have "management", "gestion" and "pilotage" nicely co-existing. Help! I know pilotage is in Kudoz, but this doesn't seem to solve the problem. Also, I assume SI = système d'information = IS, but not sure.

Note: GXP = good x practice (x = manufacturing etc.)

agree  rkillings: Or '(project) direction'. And try 'administration' for some of "gestion"s (e.g., budget).

agree  juliebarba: Steering is a common term these days. I disagree with Bob's suggestion of administration for budget "gestion" which is is commercial/budget management

agree  fourth: Well, there are steering committees but they don't "steer".This is not English is it? They manage. The particular project they have been appointed to take care of
