French term or phrase: contexte de citation
In the functional specifications for a geographical information system, the following sentence appears at the bottom of a table showing a list of documents:

"(*) : Indiquer le contexte de citation du document : à lire au préalable, documents de référence, documents complémentaires, ..."

The documents for which the "contexte de citation" has to be shown are, for example, a design description, an operation manual, etc.

I think it's just saying that the list of documents must also say why they are included in the list - for the user to read in advance, as reference documents etc.
