French term or phrase: grille rédactionnelle
Hi all,

Can anyone help me with the term "grille rédactionnelle"?
It's used in the context of a magazine publication.
This is the full sentence:

- outre la maquette, la grille rédactionnelle et la structure originale du Magazine, l’effort de recherche, la sélection, l’articulation, la disposition et la présentation des articles qui le composent répondent également à cette exigence d’originalité.

I was thinking of something along the lines of "editorial form", but I'm not really certain.

Thanks in advance for your help! :)

editorial stance/perspective

Explanation:
a process of deduction, based on one of the Robert interpretations of grille [4]: "appliquer une grille de lecture freudienne ..." => "interpret a novel from a Freudian perspective"

Anyway, this seems to fit nicely :)

editorial approach

Explanation:
Just a guess, based on examples of how a "grille rédactionnelle" seems to be used in the following ref:

http://www.formes.ca/formesMK_fr.pdf

1- Dossier...
2- Enjeux...
3- Matériaux...
4- Réalisations...
5- Revues...

editorial content

Explanation:
On searching for "grille rédactionnelle" in Google, I found plenty of hits, including the link below which defines it. It might correspond to "editorial content" - couldn't think of anything else in English, but I'm not well up on media jargon. Still, it might give you a lead to follow up.

actually, it seems to be much more precise than "editorial content". Found this after some searching: http://magazinepublishing.suite101.com/article.cfm/structure...
So perhaps "editorial order" is the term to use

Peer comments on this answer (and responses from the answerer)
agree  Simon Charass: I’m not very sure about “editorial” but “layout” is the one.
4 hrs
-> Thanks Simon. "Layout" on its own is really about the graphic layout. "Editorial" layout is more inclusive.

agree  Vicky James
8 hrs
  -> Thanks Vicky.

neutral  Emma Paulay: Layout would be "maquette". This is more about structuring the content throughout the mag rather than the "display" element.//I think "layout" could work in some contexts, it's just that in this particular list you already have "maquette" (page layout)...
11 hrs
-> Thanks Emma. See my note to Simon, which failed to post last night.

disagree  Carol Gullidge: layout is there already, with maquette
15 hrs
-> As we now know, we were following a false scent. However, "layout" on its own would be confusing as there are different types/levels: graphic, page, overall (editorial).

themes selected (acts as a guide for writers)

Explanation:
Hello,

This seems like the the range of themes/topics choosen to be included in a magazine/publication (in each issue). This way the writer's have a guide in knowing what to write about in section of the magazine (there will be a sports section, health one, comical page, etc)

mise en place de la grille rédactionnelle (choix des rubriques),; création du gabarit ou grille de mise en page,; établissement de la charte typographique. ...

editorial format

Explanation:
I think this may be the term you are looking for.

An example among many:

The initial size and editorial format of AMG was surely influenced by other contemporary European graphic arts reviews. One such German publication, Gebrauchsgraphik, first appeared in 1924. Where the content of Gebrauchsgraphik was more practical, AMG focused on the arts. Nevertheless, Charles Peignot must have perused the magazine before he began publishing the magazine, for the size format of AMG is almost identical to its German counterpart. Also, as evidence of cross-pollination between the two entities, AMG featured two articles in 1928 and 1929 by H. K. Frenzel, the director of Gebrauchsgraphik.[2,3]

Another useful example:
The Australian has announced major editorial format changes and a new branding campaign.

The newspaper will feature an extra page of both World News and The Wall St Journal as well as a renewed features section titled A Plus. A Plus will house a daily feature, two pages of arts and entertainment as well as a revamped TV page and a new games page. The arts pages will include swing-to-state content.

Explanation:
The "grille" is the basic structure, order, framework of the magazine.

Actually, "editorial order and flow" as in the ref might be best here.

In the light of extra context, I'd say "editorial line-up"
