They are the original, straight-from-the-horse's-mouth sources of much of the news you read online and yes, the media do pay for them. They rewrite them and add their own material.

Je veux dire par là: pourquoi les publier puisqu'elles sont déjà accessibles (et donc dépassées), et surtout pourquoi payer la consultation sur le fil d'agences quand on peut consulter les mêmes infos, et même plus d'infos, sur Internet ?

Maybe a clearer context migh inspire you.

Hattie, "the thread" is in my mind too! It cant be "agency networks"? After all these people talk about "au fil des événements"....lots of us follow a thread on Proz...the word "thread agency" keep going through my mind. Hope this helps a bit.
