French to English translations [PRO]
Art/Literary - Journalism / Press release
French term or phrase: échanges croisés
Title in an art exhibition press kit:

Echanges croisés entre Jean T et François N, co-commissaires de l'exposition.

This is followed by a question which each co-curator answers separately.

English translation:titles
Explanation:
I would personally (depending on what the question asked is and the overall format of the press kit) dispense of the phrase and substitute it with something else. If it is their opinion for example on the theme of the exhibition, then perhaps "over to..." (for their opinion) or "in my view..." or perhaps even "a word from the curators". "Exchanges" or things similar to it might be a little stiff, or maybe that's just my opinion... It would depend on what function this particular part has.

agree  B D Finch: Yes, a direct translation of a title frequently sounds stilted. (I assume you meant "... dispense with the phrase ...". )

Explanation:
Hello,

That's how I read "échanges croisés". You often see it, though, it international politics. But it could be used in any context, I suppose.

I hope this helps.
