French term or phrase: pour redonner à la Hongrie toute sa place dans l'Europe

I stumble on "redonner". It wouldn't be very idiomatic to say "regive", right?

What would you suggest? Thanks

I'm not sure, but "rightful" would not be the right word here most likely.

They either mean returning:

1) its full status within Europe historically-speaking (the power the country had in Europe of the past)

2) full status it had in the European Union, but because of some new laws, the country has has had its reputation and status "lowered" in the eyes of the EU.

It could be either one, but we'd need more context to know for sure.
