I'm translating material for an executive recruitment website. Not sure how to phrase the above in the following extract:

disagree  IanDhu: I don't think criminal proceedings are involved here. "Délictuel", in this context, must refer to contract or tort, as Michael has shown: not the State's action against a wrongdoer but an individual or a corporation's action in redress of a civil wrong

agree  IanDhu: To answer Philgoddard, Délictuel can have either meaning, but redress of civil wrong must be what is meant here. Besdies, "délictueux" is the usual adjective for a criminal matter.

neutral  philgoddard: I'm not convinced by "tort" - délictuel (which we had a few days ago) means criminal, though I agree it sounds odd in the context.

  -> yes,good point but criminal is not meant here but rather civil recourse under the law, to the extent permitted by law. That is why I went to "tort", which was the solution on several usually well-edited website legal notices.
