French to English translations [PRO] Law/Patents - Law: Contract(s) / contract on recording, reproduction and broadcasting rights
French term or phrase:garantir la jouissance des droits ... contre
This is part of the "warranties" section of a French contract on the recording, reproduction and broadcasting of a concert.
The issue with this phrase lies with the "contre". Does it mean (in essence), that the Artist (Il) is guaranteeing/ensuring the Producer enjoyment of the rights conferred (literally=) against any disputes/claims etc.? In which case, does this mean that the Producer is liable for any disputes arising? Or the Artist? And is the obvious translation of "against" the best option here?
Here is the full context:
"L’ARTISTE déclare disposer sans restriction ni réserve quelconque de l'ensemble des droits objets des présentes et pouvoir en conséquence accorder toutes les autorisations visées au présent accord, pour l'ensemble des territoires et durées convenus. Il garantit LE PRODUCTEUR la jouissance des droits qui lui sont cédés contre tous troubles et revendications ou évictions quelconques."
