Any suggestions on the best way to phrase the first part of this sentence. I know what it means, but I'm not sure about a good English equivalent....

Thanks to all for the quick responses. I chose this one because I Googled it and saw the phrasing appear in several contexts and even explained to mean exactly what I understood.
The other suggestions are also clear but less common.

Anyway, I used this:

"The obligation in this service being to achieve a specified result," because the prestation is in fact a service and I've translated the word as such in the rest of the document.
