Glossary 10:35 Jan 21
I agree that the glossary contains a number of entries that I would consider mistaken, for a number of terms. However, I am also aware that my choices would simply not necessarily be the same as those which would be made by others.
When a question is posted and we recognise it as a term which comes up a lot, either in our own work, or we have seen it here a number of times, I personally appreciate folk saying that they have consulted glossaries and are not satisifed that what they have found works for their particular context, even if it seems clear. We can all understand, I am sure, someone just wanting to be reassured that they are perhaps making a choice that seems right in the circumstances.
When a question is posted and suggestions made comprise a series of links to the ProZ glossaries, it may be of little use to the asker who has already consulted them. In such cases, it would have been useful to say they have been consulted and found to be unsatisfactory etc.
If not, then it makes for a closed-circuit series of references but does suggest that the glossaries ought to have been consulted first! |
