The law specifies that the original of a a deed issued/drawn up "en brevet" must be held onto by the notary and copies only handed out, called "expéditions".

Nikki Scott-Despaigne: 12:53pm Jan 3, 2006: Correction to my previous comment. Notaries NOT required to kep copies (minute) of dox they issue/draw up under the provisions relating to deeds "en brevet". Cf arts 13 & 15 here, new amendments 01 Feb 2006. -
