In this text various conflicting heirs are claiming that documents signed by the testator have been forged, so they deployed various experts to analyse the authenticity of the signatures:

"Les conclusions des trois experts sont contradictoires. Selon X M. YY a signe la lettre alors que selon les 2 autres, ils s'agirait d'un faux.

Il convient de souligner que les experts n'ont pas vu l'original de la lettre litigieuse. En effet, contrairement aux mentions portées dans l'acte notarié *qui a été saisi*, était annexé non un original mais une copie de la lettre. Comme les experts n'ont examiné qu'une photocopie de la lettre argué de faux, le caractere contradictoire de leurs conclusions peut venir de cette circonstance."

I do not infer from the rest of the text that this notarial deed/instrument has been "seized" as the police were not involved - anyone any better ideas?

Explanation:
bien que je sois d'accord avec AllegroTrans car sa proposition permet de contourner la difficulté, il me semble que "saisi" ici a la sens de "retenir". Dans ce cas, seized irait tout aussi bien que la police ne soit pas impliquée.

neutral  AllegroTrans: it is of course a probability, but I think the sense of "saisi" is more like the Court is "seised" of the matter/issue (i.e. is considering the legality of the document)
