I've been through the other answers for this term in ProZ glossaries, and still need help. My context is a legal brief in a patent infringement case, and here is the quote:

"Monsieur [X] entretient la confusion lorsqu'en réponse à une question du Conseil de [Y] sur l'articulation de l'article 14 de la Sous-License, il explique que [Y] peut parfaitement bénéficier de la dérogation de l'article 14 deuxième phrase du Contrat de Sous-Licence [etc.]."

Explanation:
This is not intended to be a literal translation, however I think that what is meant here is 'articulation' in the (very figurative) sense of 'its field of application/operation' or 'its breadth of compass'. In other words 'how article 14 works', including who it applies to and how. So I think that 'application' is a less-than-satisfactory but passable rendering.

Explanation:
I am positive about the meaning of "articulation" here - it was a false friend I came across a lot during my studies, e.g. in French phonology: unités de deuxième articulation = units on the second (hierarchical) level. It has nothing to do with "expressing" or "uttering sounds or words". However there may of course be a more fitting wording for that idea.
