La loi n° 90-1258 du 31 décembre 1990 autorise de nouveaux modes d'exercice des professions libérales réglementées. Toutes ces professions peuvent désormais être exercées dans le cadre de sociétés dites "d'exercice libéral" de forme commerciale.
Les formes autorisées sont :
la société d'exercice libéral à responsabilité limitée (S.E.L.A.R.L.) ;
In France, self-employed professionals could not set up a company, or if they did, they lost their "independent" status.
This is in between an independent professional and an SARL which is a limited liability company.

The lab that did the tests is headed by a medical \"liberal\" or \"independent\" professional, but they have set up a sort of company and they operate that as a business.
