French term or phrase: correcteur azoté
"Correcteurs azotés" are incorporated into feed rations for livestock, presumably to achieve a suitable nitrogen balance.
I've googled around "nitrogen adjuster", "nitrogen corrector" and "nitrogen regulator" with "cattle" but not come up with anything satisfactory.
Thanks.

Clarification request(s) and response
David Goward (asker): 6:04pm Jun 7, 2005: Thanks for all input received so far. I have the following sentence later on in the document:
"La fraise permet l'incorporation sans perte dans la ration des aliments complémentaires (correcteurs azotés, céréales, etc.). L'addition des suppléments nutritionnels (minéraux, etc.) est rendue possible en toute sécurité grâce à la trappe".
I'm in danger here of repeating "supplements" three times!!!
David Goward (asker): 6:11pm Jun 7, 2005: Michele - Although I agree that "urea supplements" are a form of "nitrogen supplement", I feel that this is too exclusive. It may well be soya or rape for all we know.
Michele Fauble: 8:04pm Jun 7, 2005: French web sites mentioning 'correcteur azoté' lead me to believe that 'urea supplements' is what is meant. -
Michele Fauble: 8:13pm Jun 7, 2005: The following site will explain why nonprotein nitrogen (NPN) is a favored source of nitrogen for ruminants.
