French to English translations [PRO] Science - Livestock / Animal Husbandry / livestock farming | | French term or phrase: atelier naisseur | This is not really my field at all, but has cropped up as part of an environmental impact dossier for a planning application. Building regulations for livestock farms are included in the submission documents.
Here's the context:
Sans préjudice de l'application des documents d'urbanisme existant dans la commune ou de cahiers des charges de lotissement, l’implantation des bâtiments renfermant des animaux doit respecter les règles suivantes :
sauf pour **l'atelier naisseur** où elle ne sera que de 50 mètres, les élevages porcins à lisier ne peuvent être implantés à une distance de moins de 100 mètres des immeubles habités ou habituellement occupés par des tiers, des zones de loisirs et de tout établissement recevant du public;
Is there a technical term for atelier naisseur in English? - I'm thinking along the lines of birthing unit at the moment (well I assume it's not the maternity suite!), but would appreciate confirmation or contradiction.
Many thanks

| | farrowing house | Explanation: Sounds like where the sows are housed while giving birth, though usually called 'maternité' I think. Alternatively, farrowing pen or maternity pen, though that would be the specific 'pen' where they are, rather than the building. |
