Going to ground 17:54 Jul 24, 2009
I had visions of this silage being used as scratch fodder, on the ground therefore, for free-range hens. Undoubtedly not a great way to control the spread of salmonella, but I was thinking maize silage, unlike other foodstuffs, had some magical property that reduced salmonella contamination, whether or not it was placed on the ground as food or merely to combat contamination.
Horrifying, innit, to think that chicken shit is an approved foodstuff for bovines, be it mixed in, deliberately, with clean silage or foul (fowl?) silage also containing shit and feathers, and that we subsequently eat the beef! |
