Bus/Financial - Management / seminar and cultural centre
French term or phrase: audit des besoins exprimés
Part of a consultant's role in developing a seminar/cultural centre:

"Définition de l'équipement à partir d'un audit des besoins exprimés et d'une étude du marché et du contexte local."

"Définition de l'équipement à partir d'un audit" is in bold type.

Any suggestions for improvements on my first draft of "Define the facility based on an audit of needs, and a survey of the market and local context"?

Many thanks.

a few suggestions....

Explanation:
Hi Sandra

First of all, may I say that I hate the use of "to define" in English for "définir". OK I suspect this usage has more or less crept into the language but for me "définir" is more agreeing or deciding on something. In this case it could also conceivably be "designing".

Moving on to "équipement", you may be right with "facility". Without more context, hard to tell. But it might even be "equipment" or "installations" i.e. how the place will be equipped. Only you can see from where you're sitting.

"audit" is a rather big word in such a context. All they are doing is taking stock of the wishes that have been expressed. They are analysing the information already in their possession.

Deciding on "facility" design requirements (bold type) in the light of known requirements, market research.....
