French term or phrase: consultants métiers
This is in a summary of services provided by a recruitment agency :
" **consultants métiers**
consultants secteurs d'activités "
It's a buzz-phrase which is very popular in this field these days. I know what it is ... but I don't know how to translate it (i.e. I don't know what the equivalent buzz-phrase is in English)
Any suggestions will be welcome !

These consultants have a dual function. In this 'business' these consultants can work for both companies, as well as employees.

Yes, to your last question Michael, as this is what I did in 1980-81. We represented both job-seekers, as well as companies, since without the latter, obviously, we could not completely help the job-seekers.

business-function consultants

Explanation:
If you consider that Accounting, Marketing, Design, Production, HR, Running The Canteen, and Bootlicking are business functions, then maybe these guys are Business-Function Consultants.

There's pages about what these guys do at :
http://www.digitalsafetynet.com/DSI Website/Labor Category D...

Pity is, while I understand all the words, I come out none the wiser about what these guys actually DO! Which is probably a good indication that, as consultants go, this is it.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Thank you - the doc I am translating is actually a list of approved head-hunting agencies, produced by "a major household name" company for executives wishing to recruit staff. So your term, which I have to say may not be the correct one, certainly does describe what they do.

agree  rkillings: I'd have gone with 'business-line specialists' and 'industry specialists'. You don't need to call them consultants (that's understood). They're hunting heads for a (big) fee, not trying to advance candidates' career prospects.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Thank you Richard : these are guys working as head-hunters for corporate clients (see my note to Bourth) : would your term still apply in that case ?
