French term or phrase: Myopie de la moyenne
From a consulting firm's blurb relating to their analysis of demographics and so on for corporate strategy:

Pilotage stratégique de xxxxx (myopie de la moyenne, indicateurs locaux, études de corrélation...)

A close analysis of the mean?

Have checked with client for the context and yes it is apparently to be avoided. In which case this is the perfect dynamic equivalent in my view - thanks!

myopia of average values

Explanation:
When searching for 'myopia of'+'marketing' on Google, the number of results is quite impressive.

Therefore, my guess (it's a guess, my confidence level is my witness!) is that 'myopia of average values' might work for two reasons:

- 'myopia of …' is an expression currently used in marketing; examples (on Google): myopia of markets / optimal policies / mass media / principal economic agents / orders of consumption …

- ' … of average values' also might work if referring to some wrong influence of average values in statistics generated by non-specialist (average) opinions, influencing by numbers instead of evaluation of facts by specialists

A few minutes ago I found http://www.eleven.fr/savoir-faire/strategie/strategie-reseau...

I believe now that my guess was a quite lucky one, since it seems to fit well in its context, after studying the website.
