French term or phrase: en transparence
I'm not sure how to translate "en transparence." Also, is "a solid orange section" okay for "un aplat orange." Thanks! Karen

Explanation:
For aplat (also: à plat) in Termium I found "tint block" under printing processes. My guess is that the graphic is visible through the block of orange color.

orange flat tint / "appearing through the card"

Explanation:
Aplat (cf. www.granddictionnaire.com) :

flat tint = teinte plate (Terme(s) apparenté(s)= aplat n. m.)
Déf. :
Note :
Ex. : un aplat de jaune

en transparence

I am not sure about the right expression. Maybe "in transparency" would be enough. You can also write ...with the pictogram appearing through the card".

I hope that helps !

Your "aplat orange" looks like an "orange background" to me (from the context)

Explanation:
"flat orange" (as against 3-dimensional orange or volumetric orange). As for "en transparence", are you sure this is not a pictograph ON TRANSPARENCY? (the medium).
Pardon if I'm not too sure myself, but the previous answers have me floored.
