French to English translations [PRO] Marketing - Marketing / Market Research / retail distribution | | French term or phrase: "bannières applicatives" | Concerning the launch of private-label products and services by a multinational distributor

| | Clarification request(s) and responseTamara Salvio: 8:17pm Sep 4, 2005: More context... - I was thinking along the lines of Alan, but I now think it refers to a broader marketing term. Here's some more context:

bannière = corporate name
applicatif = application
"bannières applicatives" maybe "own name applications" ???
Clare's answer is a correct translation but I don't see the relevance. Are they just advertising or actually launching private-label products and services - as you say? |

| Note from asker to answererSorry I can't give full points, because within this context "bannieres" is "banner brands", so given the context I included "banner brand applications" would be correct. Thanks for your help! 3 KudoZ points were awarded for this answer |

| own brands (or - house brands)
Explanation: Reading your text, I am almost sure that they mean "own brand" labels in this case. It would tie in with the rest of the sentence and most companyies now have their "own" products, under "own brand", or "house brand" labels. E.g. "St Michaels" for Marks & Spencer,etc.)

| categories of applications/software/solutions/systems (products/services)
Explanation: I hope the above makes sense!
Given your note, "information/data security systems", the products/services in question seem to be in IT/data security, and thus are applications/software/IT systems.
That's my take on it anyway.
