online affinity schemes

Explanation:
From what I can gather "consommation solidaire" as an online phenomenon is where supporters download a piece of software from a charity website and then a small percentage of the price of any purchases they subsequently make online goes to the charity. The same has been in place for many years on credit cards.

As well as this kind of appeals fundraising there are several other uses of new media, including enabling online donations via the charity’s website, communication with donors via email or text, or affinity schemes in which supporters can ensure that their chosen charity receives a percentage of payments made in online shopping.

neutral  Emma Paulay: I see what you mean, but an affinity scheme doesn't just apply to charity http://reports.mintel.com/sinatra/reports/index/&letter=1/di...

-> yes, although the majority are charities, the beneficiary could be a university, a sports club, or any organisation with which you have an 'affinity'. The original text doesn't mention charity - just my lazy shorthand answer!

neutral  Irene McClure: I thought this too at first, but it doesn't fit the "outil...sur l'internet" bit. The software that you can download from charity websites means that purchases of anything (not just fairtrade products) using a credit card mean the charity gets a donation

-> Yes, you're right. I can't find the term in En though...
