Chris and I were answering at the same time. Certainly either term works as a translation. Intellectual framework is the idea which came to me, and I spent some time to see if it is indeed used in this context.

Ce cours vise :

à mettre en application les principes de classification, classement et indexation des archives.

différencier les principaux systèmes de classification;
