French to English translations [Non-PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Materials (Plastics, Ceramics, etc.) / stainless steel bin
French term or phrase: anti-traces
Cette poubelle est revêtue d'une finition anti-traces qui résiste aux traces pour garder l'acier inoxydable brillant et propre.

this is the sentence. i know the exact meaning that the bin has an anti-mark finish on it to keep the stainless stell shiny and clean but is anti-mark the best way of describing this?

English translation:finger-mark resistant
Explanation:
We tend to use the prefix anti- rather less in EN than in FR, so I'd be inclined to try and find a way of avoiding it here if you can.

Generally speaking, we can expect these 'traces' to be 'traces des doigts' (since this sort of mark is one of the biggest problems with mirror-finish stainless, and probably about the only one where any kind of surface coating could actually do any good)

If you check out a few sites about maintaining stainless-steel surfaces, you should get some ideas, but I have found "resists finger marks" as a good starter.

Explanation:
Or "streak-free". Comes up with quite a few hits when googled with "stainless steel". Often paired with "fingerprint resistant"!

I suppose actually, looking at the whole sentence, one could say "covered with a streak free finish, which is fingerprint resistant..."?
