Science - Mathematics & Statistics / ANOVA
French term or phrase: Variances / sum of variances
I realise that in French, the comma is used as the decimal point.

I am translating a table that gives the % concentration of one substance in another, followed by the variance and sum of variances.

I,e.: % sulfonate d'adrénaline: 1,2 %
Variance: 2.10-7 (the "-7" is exposed)
% sulfonate d'adrénaline: 12 %
Variance: 1.10-7 (the "-7" is exposed)
Etc.

Somme des variances: 53,8.10-5 (the "-5" is exposed)

Can anyone advise as to how to convey the variances in English in terms of where the commas and points go?

Many thanks in advance...

Explanation:
The "." is multiplication. The "-" is a power of 10. So
53,8.10-5 = 0.000538.

agree  njweatherdon: I think there might be a zero missing from your number there. The dot should typpically be a small round circle between the 53.8 and the 10-5. I think this is available in Word. - Correction - Yes Dlyons, 100% correct. I see now it was 53, not 5.

-> Thanks njweatherdon. As far as I can see, my zeros are OK - 53./100,000..
