French term or phrase: Effectif tronqué
I am translating the results of a blood gas analysis report. It gives the values for pH, PO2 and CO2 and then gives the values for:

Effectif tronqué
Moyenne tronqué (calculée à partir de l'effectif tronqué)
Coefficient de variation (%)

Does anyone know what the English equivalent of "effectif tronqué" would be?

Thanks in advance for any help!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Truncation_(statistics)

In statistics, truncation results in values that are limited above or below, resulting in a truncated sample.[1] Truncation is similar to but distinct from the concept of statistical censoring. A truncated sample can be thought of as being equivalent to an underlying sample with all values outside the bounds entirely omitted, with not even a count of those omitted being kept.

agree  DLyons: But I think the Glossary entry should be "truncated sample size".

Maybe I'm missing something, but MAC_1980 says "then gives the values for: ...
Effectif tronqué: 835"

This implies to me that the Effectif tronqué (or truncated sample size) is 835.

Peer comments on this answer (and responses from the answerer)
neutral  B D Finch: "Size" is wrong here, as should be obvious from "calculée à partir de l'effectif tronqué". Yes. However the calculation of CV uses both sample values and sample size. "effectif suffisant" is "adequate sample size" might help.
16 mins
  -> Why? Isn't 835 the sample size??

neutral  SJLD: you can add size if you want, not really necessary, but of course 835 is the number of observations in the sample = size of the trimmed sample
2 hrs
  -> I think one needs to for clarity. I'm happy to remove this answer, if you add "size" to your answer :-) // P.S. I just noticed your 38 min note mentioning "size".
