Froma a list of machine parts - the full phrase is:

Axe de l’arbre du volant supérieur

...the 'volant supérieur' in this case being the upper wheel of a band saw used to cut tyres.

My confusion lies between the meanings of 'axe' and 'arbre', both of which can actually mean 'shaft'. I know that 'axe' can also mean 'axle' and that it has a range of other meanings, depending on context. I was wondering what it means in this particular context. I mean, could it be 'axle shaft' or possibly 'shaft axle' = and what is the difference? I am picturing the wheel - unfortunately I have no diagram, so I have to imagine it. To give extra context, the list in which it appears is as follows:
