Tech/Engineering - Mechanics / Mech Engineering / Assembly and maintenance manual for coupling unit (2700Kg)
French term or phrase: au delà de
This is one of a set of bullet points of the stages of assembly of this coupling unit between motor and gearbox driving something like a sugar mill.

" Mise en attente au delà de la portée de calage des pièces repères 13, 14, 15, 17 qui doivent impérativement être montées avant le calage du moyeu repère 2."

Does this mean something as mundane as "assemble the parts needed close by the fitting site; these parts have to be fitted before fitting the hub item 2".

In this case "au delà" I am interpreting to mean physically "just close by" rather than something like "beyond the scope of...".

I need a little reassurance. Thanks in advance.

agree  xxxBourth: Or "on the far side of"./ I think that will depend on how you interpret portée, i.e. a distance or a mechanical component.

-> Thanks Bourth. I understand "au delà de la portée de calage" to mean beyond a certain radius. "On the far side of" would imply a particular observation point, which I see no evidence for.

Notes to answerer
Asker: I awarded points but did not get to enter my thanks. In this particular cotext your suggestion was the most appropriate - many thanks.

neutral  xxxBourth: Could be either side of the portée whereas it has to be "on the far side of" it.
