French term or phrase: Taux de brassage
From a table describing air flow in a ventilation system. Other items in the table include:

Débit de soufflage
Volume
Débit d'air neuf
Débit d'air soufflé
Débit d'air repris

The term I am looking for is

neutral  Tony M: Not quite so sure, Martin — in this context, there is very definitely an element of 'mixing'

taux de brassage
mix(ing) rate

Explanation:
Try researching something like that; I did a huge project on this stuff years ago, and I've a vague recollection it was something along those lines — it refers to the proportion of fresh air that is mixed in with the recirc. air in a mechanical ventilation system (just like in your car!)

It would be as well to confirm with the actual context (in particular, what units, if any, are this 'taux de brassage' expressed in), but it seems as if Kashew's answer is the correct one, and mine refers to soemthing different.

Here are some helpful definitions I found:

http://www.france-air.com/Portals/0/Fichier/documentation/Ch...

.

Taux de brassage

www.xpair.com/lexique/definition/taux_de_brassage.htm

http://www.generfeu.com/faq-M7-R168.html

Notes to answerer
Asker: Thanks Tony for your help, I did some extra research and find a lot more references for this context, i.e. room ventilation particularly for sealed environments and passive houses, for "air change rate", so I will go for that. I see a lot of references for "mixing rate" for things like "fuel/air mixing rate", i.e. where the air is actually mixed with something else. Thanks again for your help though!

Asker: Yes the unit used is Vol/h. Nice working with you on this one!
