French to English translations [PRO] Tech/Engineering - Media / Multimedia / About a a curtain over large screen
French term or phrase:ouverture en iris
"Taille écran 9.00 m x 4,00 m
Ouverture du rideau en iris
(4 cache-écrans motorisés indépendants)"
I get the image, I have suggested "opens like an iris" simply, the client however wants a "technical" translation of the term.
I think there is a better way of putting it, but I can't quite put my finger on it.
"An iris is a mechanism that is used as a compact solution to close and open holes. Iris mechanisms are commonly found in optical shutters (diaphragms), and also in various kinds of valves. Irises are sometimes used in science fiction as doors."
