double condyloid joint

Explanation:
The knee joint is actually the articulation of the lower femur and upper tibia and acts as a double condyloid joint, producing the movements of knee flexion and extension in a sagittal plane around a coronal axis and medial and lateral rotation, which occurs in the transverse plane around a vertical axis.
