How can I translate "acte" in the below medical context?
A l’HAP, le personnel soignant doit s’assurer avant tout acte qu’il a affaire au bon patient, par exemple que la bonne intervention va être pratiquée, du bon côté.
AND
Quant à la compétence d’un praticien, on ne saurait la définir uniquement par la fréquence des actes qu’il réalise : si on liait la compétence médicale à un nombre d’actes minimum, on risquerait de dériver vers une chirurgie abusive.

Andy THEODOROU: 3:24pm Oct 7, 2006: Just one concern here - if I'm not mistaken there is a list of 'actes chirurgicaux' so perhaps it may be more correct to say medical procedure - or may I suggest coded medical procedure
