'...nous allons realiser une compression de ces structures sensibles, c'est ce qu'on appelle le conflit,...'
Maybe this is also very simple, but to translate it as 'conflict' seems rather clumsy in this context. I can't find a French translation for 'crepitation', but it probably isn't specific enough to mean that.
