neutral  liz askew: It is all very well asserting this, but would you kindly supply some contextual references, at least to educate the masses (me).

  -> difficult to give exact contextual references, but negative charges attract positive charges i.e college level chemistry and then in english we generally don't talk about "representing" charges, but "carrying" charges!
