We also took recent medical literature into account when determining drug dose and length of treatment for each PPI indication in the Swiss Drug Compendium.
Is "indication" also right in English ? Doesn't seem so to me.

Antibiotic Review/Stop Date & Indication Policy

Background
Antimicrobials should be prescribed in accordance with Trust guidelines. Regular antimicrobial review is essential to ensure:
Appropriateness of the selected empiric antimicrobial
Consideration of IV to PO switch
Modification of antibiotic treatment according to sensitivity reports
Continuation of therapy is necessary
The Antibiotic Point Prevalence Audit conducted at Salisbury District Hospital in April 2009 showed that 68% of all antibiotic prescriptions prescribed failed to state a review date or antibiotic course duration. [1] In addition the indication for an antimicrobial agent was often not clear, making monitoring of appropriateness difficult.
Extended antimicrobial treatment can have an impact on:
Increased antimicrobial resistance
Increased risk of adverse effects
Increased expenditure
In general the shorter the antibiotic duration, the lower the risk of developing Clostridium difficile [2].
The documentation of the indication and a review/stop date on the drug chart will be beneficial to all health care professionals and will help prevent unnecessarily extended antimicrobial courses.

Single Technology Appraisal (STA): STAs have been developed to provide early guidance for new drugs targeting a single indication, as well as for new indications for drugs already on the market. This process has been developed to reduce the effect of NICE blight and drugs thought to improve life expectancy are likely to be prioritised. This process is more streamlined that the MTA process, with greater emphasis on the submission of evidence from the manufacturer. An Evidence Review Group is commissioned to evaluate manufacturer’s submissions and inform the Appraisal Committee.

Cardiovascular disease
Aspirin is recommended for the prevention and treatment of various aspects of cardiovascular disease in management guidelines published in the UK and Europe (see European Society of Cardiology, www.escardio.org; National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence, www.nice.org.uk; and Scottish InterCollegiates Network, www.sign.ac.uk). Although details may differ, these guidelines broadly agree on the indications and contraindications for aspirin.
