hospital service; emergency department Explanation: Here are some confirmations Canadian government translations: "Les responsables du régime n'accordent pas leur consentement si le service hospitalier en question est offert au Québec ou au Canada." http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/medicare/que-f.htm "Consent is not given if the hospital service is available in Quebec or elsewhere in Canada." http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/medicare/que-e.htm "Lorsque le service d'urgence d'un hôpital reçoit des aînés, il peut déterminer si ceux-ci présentent de grands risques de déclin fonctionnel ou d'autres problèmes de santé." http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/francais/archives/communiques/1998/98... "Visits to emergency departments provide an opportunity to identify seniors who are at high risk of functional decline and other adverse outcomes. " http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/english/archives/releases/1998/9859bk... N.B.: "Emergency unit" would be "unité d'urgence" and "emergency room" would be "salle d'urgence". Hope this helps. |

accident & emergency unit ; (A&E Unit) ; AEU Explanation: Hello again, I would go along with Louise's (Dauphine's) answer for the first term, "hospital service". However, with regard to the second term, if your context is UK, then such departments of hospitals are much more commnly referred to (nowadays) in one of the above ways. In the past, such department/units were referred to as "Casualty" although this term would now appear to apply for less serious injury. See the following for confirmation. That said, passing refernce is made to "department" once the term AEU has been applied and "depratment" is used in one case, altho' the websearch showed this to be used less often in the UK. All depends who your aduience is : 1 - http://www.baem.org.uk/11.htm THE IMPACT OF A DEDICATED DISTRICT GENERAL HOSPITAL PAEDIATRIC ACCIDENT AND EMERGENCY UNIT ONTHE NUMBER OF PAEDIATRIC ADMISSIONS TO THE HOSPITAL.
