indeed it could


Explanation:
mean "stroke" and more often than not, "accident" with ref to thromboembolic events in French, Esp, Port etc.. has exactly this meaning, and not just the idea of "an event". I would put "thromboembolic event" with "stroke" in brackets afterwards.

But that´s just my humble opinion.
