In this context (treating bouts of a disease as opposed to a sort of preventive therapy) I would use acute treatment. Plenty of hits on google for acute treatment of reflux oesophagitis. There are loads of ways of translating traitement d'attaque (initial dose, loading dose, induction chemotherapy) with slightly different meanings in English.
