French to English translations [PRO] Medical - Medical (general)
French term or phrase:cas-témoin
The word occurs in a discussion of the side effects of iboprufen. The sentence is: "Les études d'observation (cohortes et cas-témoins) fournissent des informations considérables sur la sécurité de l'ibuprofène." I think I understand the concept (individual cases as opposed to statistical study of a group) but am unsure what the English term of art is.
Plenty of explanations on the web about case-control studies - the concept still involves groups but here we have one group of people with the disease in question (cases) and another without the disease (controls).
