French to English translations [PRO] Medical - Medical (general) / speech therapy
French term or phrase:effet de marque
Is this maybe "scoring effect" or does it have some other specialist meaning?
Many thanks

As "effet de marque" is used about "tendances préférentielles dans les erreurs des sujets", it seems that it is referring to the identification of idiosyncratic speech patterns, rather than the detail of stressing particular phonemes.
That's quite funny, as I was concentrating so hard on the B and the D and whether they had a full stop or were next to each other or not, that I didn't even see the real mistake. Sorry. But, yes, please take it as a compliment!
I don't think this has anything to do with brands, but I may be wrong (I haven't got the full text, this is an extract). It's a medical speech therapy study.
The rest of the sentence is "L’existence de tendances préférentielles dans les erreurs des sujets, liées au fait qu’elles peuvent être interprétées en termes d’effet de marque, vont dans le sens de l’existence d’un déficit d’ordre plus moteur que pré-moteur (Lecours et Lhermitte, 1969) et appuient les résultats des très nombreuses études qui identifient un déficit d’implémentation articulatoire du voisement chez les patients non fluents "
Thanks!
