Dans un service où j'ai exercé, nous posions souvent des cathéters courts bouchés que nous réservions aux prises de sang (il faut un 18 G, sinon ça marche très mal). Ça nécessite de travailler avec une certaine rigueur : un petit bout de pansement transparent en-desous de l'embase du cathéter lors de la pose, placer une compresse sous l'embase avant de retirer le mandrin, retirer le mandrin en bouchant la veine avec un doigt juste au-dessus du cathéter, placer la tulipe, mettre le garrot, faire les prélèvements (en jettant le premier tube), retirer le garrot, boucher le cathéter en appuyant avec un doigt juste au-dessus, retirer la tulipe, mettre un mandrin neuf, refaire un pansement de protection du cathéter obturé (une compresse et du sparadrap, ou un mépore).
